SSN Canada's Personal Trainer, Pat Woodcock brings you his Elite Training Tip of the Week -Structural Balance.

About SSN Canada's Pat Woodcock

Pat Woodcock is the CEO, Founder, and Director of Athlete Development for the Elite Performance Academy.

After a long career as a professional athlete, Pat turned his focus to helping people live stronger, healthier, and happier, and to helping other athletes reach their highest levels of competitive success.  Pat is professionally certified as a:

  • PICP Level 2 Certified Strength Coach
  • BioSignature Modulation Practitioner
  • Upper and Lower Extremity Structural Balance Assessment
  • Personal Training Specialist
  • Youth Speed and Agility Specialist
  • Athletics Canada – NCCP Level 1 Trained Sprint Coach, and is a member of the
  • National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Before starting Elite Performance Academy, Pat had an 8-year career as a professional football player. He played Wide Receiver in the NFL for the New York Giants and Washington Redskins, and in the CFL for the Montreal Alouettes, Ottawa Renegades, Edmonton Eskimos and Hamilton Ti-Cats. Over the course of his career, Pat was a Division All-Star and a Grey Cup Champion. In 2002, he led the League in average yards per catch (23.9), was named Most Outstanding Canadian in the Grey Cup, and still holds the record for the longest touchdown catch in Grey Cup History (99-yards).

In university, Pat was a 3-year letter winner and Team Captain for Syracuse University. During his time there, Pat helped Syracuse win 3 Big East Conference Championships and play in 4 Bowl Games (Liberty Bowl, Music City Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Orange Bowl). Pat finished his career as only the 14th player in school history with over 1000-yards receiving, and averaged 16.9 yards per catch, tying for 8th All-Time. He is also ranked 9th All-Time with 16 consecutive games with a reception. Pat was only the third Syracuse football player in history to receive Big East All-Academic honors four times and was nominated as an Academic All-American.

A native of Ottawa, Pat grew up in Kanata and attended Holy Trinity High School, where he played basketball and ran track, and was provincially ranked in the 100m and Long Jump. He played football locally for the Kanata Knights, Myers Riders and Ottawa Sooners, and played soccer for the Kanata Falcons and Eastern Ontario U14.

All of these elements provide Pat with a unique set of tools to help athletes achieve their maximum potential, both on the playing field and off.
