Bowden: Making the call

Do you know this man?
- March 13 2010
Another gorgeous morning here in Nova Scotia - we had a ham and cheese casserole topped with corn flakes for breakfast.
Headed to campus early after filming our daily show to catch some of the practices. Still haven't got lost on the way, but yes it is true that I fried the GPS.
I stopped by the campus bookstore to pick up a shirt for my son and was greeted by a lady that works there as "you're the SSN guy".
Does John not mention my actual name in the broadcasts?
I grabbed a couple things for myself as well - probably spent too much, but when am I going to be out here again?
Walked by the football field on my way back and watched students throwing around a baseball - maybe spring training can be here next year.
Did some more rapid-fire interviews, but the players are getting smart and doing their research before coming on with me - I'll have to change up the questions a bit.
Had a couple technical issues with the system in game #1 but we were able to get those corrected so viewers could see most of the 4-2 victory by Saint Mary's over Montreal.
Lauren McCusker picked up three goals for the Huskies.
Interviewed Gabi Smith, the McGill goaltender who was involved in a tragic accident this year, and hearing everything that she has gone through, I actually had to hold back the tears.
In the nightcap, Laurier rebounded from their loss the previous night to down the host X-Women 3-2 in an exciting game before a large, pro X crowd. Devon Skeats notched a hat trick for the Golden Hawks.
When have we seen back to back hat tricks in this tournament - research boy will have to get on that?
Had the opportunity to interview York coach Dan Church during the intermission - one of the big supporters of what we are doing.
After the game, Kieran and I headed to the Ice Patch, the local gathering spot after the games. Tonight they had Canadian Idol runner up Mitch MacDonald entertaining the crowd.
We interviewed some of the fans from different teams to see how they were enjoying the tournament. When John was done editing, since we hadn't eaten most of the day, we hit the local Subway. Just like the Sobey's a couple days previously, it took like 20 minutes to order a sandwich because the two ladies behind the counter were so nice.
They were chit chatting with all the customers - at 12:30 AM.
John was able to sweet talk an extra cookie out of them.
On the drive home we were so cold and exhausted that we didn't even notice the stars.
Four games down, five to go.
