Carleton Ravens to host NCAA's Cincinnati Bearcats at Scotiabank Place

The Carleton University Ravens men's basketball team is set to take on the NCAA Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday, Sept. 4, at 6 p.m. in the CAN-AM Shootout. Scotiabank Place will host the pre-season game for the second consecutive year.
Starting at $10, tickets go on sale Friday, July 16, at 10 a.m. and can be purchased by phone at 613-599-FANS (3267) or 1-877-788-FANS (3267); in person at The Sens Store at Rideau Centre and Place d'Orleans, any Ottawa Sports Experts location, Les Galeries de Hull and at the Scotiabank Place box office.
A member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) Big East Conference, the Bearcats will enter the 2010-11 season off a 19-16 campaign and the team's first appearance in the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) under head coach Mike Cronin. Cincinnati eliminated Weber State by a score of 76-62 in the tournament's opening round on March 17 before falling to the eventual NIT champion University of Dayton Flyers in second round play on March 22. The Bearcats are scheduled to return three starters from last season's team. The Bearcats most recently played in the NCAA tournament in 2005 which ended a streak of 14 consecutive appearances.
Carleton, which has won the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) national title in six of the past eight years, will return all but one starter from last year's team which fell 86-82 to the eventual champion University of Saskatchewan Huskies in CIS semi-final play on March 20. The Ravens last hosted the CAN-AM Shootout at Scotiabank Place in 2008 when they were felled 84-83 by the defending NCAA champion Kansas University Jayhawks.
