2010 starts with a bang on SSN

OTTAWA - The Streaming Sports Network (SSNCanada.ca) kicks off the 2010 winter semester with live coverage of 35 Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) games this week.
Coverage tips-off on Wednesday with six games on the hardwood in Ontario and Quebec. The no. 2 ranked Windsor Lancers women's basketball team hosts their rivals from Western Ontario to begin a double-header of hoops action from the St. Denis Centre in Windsor at 6 pm ET.
The no. 4 Laval Rouge et Or head to Montreal to face the Citadins de UQAM in women's top-10 hoops action also beginning at 6 pm ET before giving way to the men at 8 pm ET. Also on tap on Wednesday night is a basketball twin bill between the Laurier Golden Hawks and the Guelph Gryphons from the Mitchell Gymnasium in Guelph.
A pair of games from the frozen floor highlights SSN's action on Thursday night when the UOIT Ridgebacks travel to York University to face the Lions in men's hockey action at 7 pm ET. The Ridgebacks women's squad will be in action 30-minutes later when they face the Guelph Gryphons at 7:30 pm ET.
Friday night features 11 games from all across Canada including the Battle of Alberta, CIS men's hockey style as the no. 2 Alberta Golden Bears take on the Calgary Dinos at 7 pm MT.
Saturday's action is a mix of hockey and hoops highlighted by the Ottawa Gee-Gees women's hoopsters who will host the Laurentian Lady Vees in what could be a preview of an opening round playoff match. Both teams head into the weekend with identical 10-9 conference records.
For hockey fans, Saturday is a day for intense rivalries beginning at 2 pm AT, when the fifth ranked St. FX X-Women host the St. Thomas Tommies in women's hockey action. The game is followed by the no. 4 Acadia Axemen taking on the X-Men at 7 pm AT.
The first installment of the Canal War for 2010 between the Ottawa Gee-Gees and Carleton Ravens women's hockey squads takes place on Saturday night at the uOttawa Sports Complex. Just one point separates these two squads heading into the second half of the season.
The weekend wraps up with a trio of games on Sunday from Atlantic University Sport including a pair of volleyball matches.
